Rebellion of the flesh is the title of a performance by Tastumi Hijikata, founder of butō dance, which establishes the spiritual yet irreverent ancestry of this dance, loudly invoking the need for a revolution of the human body and soul. Damiano Fina proposes a path of rebellion from the patterns and preconceptions of contemporary society, to be experienced through the “discipline” of dance.

Life and death dance in the eternal
In 2014 I encountered butō dance, studying with my teacher Atsushi Takenouchi, and meeting Yoshito Ohno in 2019. Dancing from then to now, I have performed in various cities in Europe and beyond: Paris, Berlin, Vienna, London, New York, Japan and various Italian festivals.
After a short time I began teaching butō dance in Vicenza and developing the FÜYA method, based on the five-body technique (physical, emotional, spiritual, remote, alchemical). In 2020 I published the book Dance and Alchemy in which I discuss this method.

The butoh dance course in Vicenza The Dance of the Eternals is proposed as an activity of physical-spiritual experimentation and an opportunity to deepen dance through Damiano Fina’s research on butoh dance and Emanuele Severino’s philosophy of the eternals. The activity is open to all who wish to embark on a path of deepening one’s body through movement practice and the technique of body balances taught by the FÜYA method developed by the artist.
