All is transformation
Queer Pedagogy is an artistic method based on Damiano Fina’s research about philosophy, butoh dance and gender studies. The book “The Dance of Eros and Thanatos for a Queer Pedagogy” was published in 2018. The purpose of this method is to create the guided and protected environment in which human organism can experience its desire of transformation. Queer Pedagogy founds in the ritual the excellent condition for freedom of expression.
Queer Pedagogy is an artistic method based on Damiano Fina’s research about Butoh Dance and Gender Studies. The purpose of this method is to create the guided and protected environment in which human organism can experience its desire of transformation. Queer Pedagogy founds in the ritual the excellent condition for freedom of expression. During the ritual we can join together the profane and the holy dimensions of our existence.
We feel our desire of transformation since we are kids and we play becoming dragons, fairies and bicycles. Queer Pedagogy highlights the importance for human organisms to experience metamorphosis and mimesis. Through the ritual, the live creature aims to reconnect with its origins since where it comes from, building a new bond between the profane and the holy dimensions of existence.
Queer Pedagogy establishes the pedagogical, aesthetic and ethical basics for the affirmation of human being’s existential dignity in the ritual. Freedom of expression is sacred, we have to foster it! An experience dedicated to freedom of movement and expression through transformation and metamorphosis. Think about it, do you remember when you played turning into fairies, dragons, clouds, robots and unicorns? It was so much fun! Today we need to highlight the importance of transformative experiences for our organism.
Three Queer Laboratories
For three different purposes. Each session is dedicated to metamorphosis during a ritual of transformation of the organism. These sessions encourage the interactions between the body and the environment without gender distinctions, rather fostering the transformative essence of the human being.
Queer Pedagogy support workshop is thought to assist participants in their paths (gender dysphoria, gender expression, coming out processes) introducing queer pedagogy into support groups or individually. The program structure creates a protected and guided context in which the freedom of expression is enhanced as a practice able to feed back on the overall well-being of the organism. This laboratory is considered to be in support of a personal research and it will work alongside other relevant professionals like psychologists and doctors.
Queer Pedagogy basic workshop is open to anyone with the desire to experiment metamorphosis through dance. It is designed to introduce participants to the transformative journey practice, with the main aim to reconnect the experience of everyday life with its ritual dimension. The program is structured in a protected and guided context in which the freedom of expression is enhanced as a practice able to feed back on the overall well-being of the organism.
Queer Pedagogy advanced workshop is meant for those who have already embarked on a path of work with the body or has already attended the basic workshop. It is meant to deepen the transformative journey practice and the ritual dimension through a program of creations and recreations. The advanced workshop emphasizes the desire of transformation of the human body and promotes the metamorphic creativity of participants, becoming useful for those interested in the development of new performative tools.
