Performing Queerly

The body and the performance are peculiar times and spaces in which we can play with transformations and we can share negotiations. This is Queer Claim. A serie of projects about transforming peculiarities.

Queer Claim is a project of research and performance. A book titled The dance of Eros and Thanatos for a Queer Pedagogy is coming soon in the first part of 2018.

Manifesto

“Queer Claim refuses the conventions of the mainstream sexualism. Being queer means breaking the rules for sex and gender. Queer Claim does not mind about the conventional categories. There is no stereotype of being hetero, gay, lesbian, trans, bisexual etc. Sex and gender have a place within you, your feelings, your story and your spirituality, outside the boundaries of the conventions.

Queer Claim is a manifesto for peculiarities. Each human organism has its story, its feelings, its theory of the world. Sexuality needs freedom. No more definitions, only peculiarities. Having sex is like praying for me. You could be Christian, but in the deep of your organism you make your own religion. It is time to claim a deep unconventionality about sexualities. I wish one day we will not call everything looking for the correct name. Indeed there is no right definition. We are all peculiar, so each being must have its own description, that is always changing and transforming.

Queer Claim has to break the rules for sex and gender in order to reject distinctions between sexualities. We are human organisms. That is how I feel. Straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transexual are dangerous words, that are building new walls between us. With these definitions we maintain a patriarchy and we create a new hierarchic system. Heterosexuality depends on homosexuality in order to define its own limits, this is not a news. Queer Claim has to talk about a wide, complex and everytime peculiar masculinity and femininity. This is not about a new dualism. First of all we have to recognize that our words are always partial.

The body is about soul and ancestors. There is magic within science. We are linked to the world because we are living organisms. We make our context and our context makes us. Queer Claim wants to point out that masculinity and femininity are socially constructed, they are not stable entities, on the contrary they are made up of conflictual and contradictory aspects. We have to keep in mind this fact not only for gender, but also for sex. We do not need to focus on words and definitions. Sex and gender must be peculiar.

The body has a key role for Queer Claim. It is the space of manifested peculiarity. It is not only a matter of self expression, it is about embodied subjectivity. With our bodies we are always inside exercises of powers. The gaze of the others, our inner eye, the voices of the ancestors, background memories and our perspectives. All these elements are constantly negotiated. It is not only a private-public dialogue, it involves our species and the magic that surrounds us. There is no body, there are bodies. Peculiar bodies, always transforming.

The body and the performance are peculiar times and spaces in which we can play with transformations and we can share negotiations. This is Queer Claim. A serie of projects about transforming peculiarities”.
