Butoh Dance Performance
Poison Moon
“Nothing can be protected from eternity.”
Said the little boy to the moon
On the dark and silent lake
Only a few moths
Poison Moon is a butoh dance performance by Damiano Fina. The performance was presented in its entirety during the 2018 Hokkaido Butoh Festival in Sapporo, Japan. The performance was also presented during the 2018 Haru No Kaze Japan Festival in Vicenza and the 2018 La Voce del Corpo Festival in Osnago, Italy. A new version of the performance was created and presented to the public in 2022.
Poison Moon is a very intimate performance, inspired by the artist’s adolescence: “Between the ages of 12 and 14, I began my journey of meditation and writing while taking piano lessons. Chopin’s Op.28 has always been at the center of my musical and spiritual education. I would play these preludes for hours and wrote many poems while listening to Maurizio Pollini and Anna Malikova’s versions. These notes are the soundtrack of my journey to maturity.”
The dress was designed by the artist, starting with the choice of fabric. The photographic images were made by Damiano Fina. The dress was made by Giovanna Creazioni.
